ON THE RUN

During the war in Kosovo, thousands of Kosovan-Albanian families were driven from their homes and sought refuge in neighboring countries. Albania opened its doors to a large number of these refugees, and it struggled to cope with the daily arrival of new streams of refugees. Non-governmental organizations and the military constructed refugee camps and attempted to provide infrastructure that would enable the dislodged families to live in humanitarian conditions.
“Look out for your brother” is a documentary report about the exceptional circumstances that thousands of families had to endure before they were able to return to their homes. It describes the life in the refugee camps in Vlore, in the South, as well as in Kukës near the border to Kosovo.
The documentary was published in “Alive” magazine in 1999.
